Family Time Game Mods: Installation & Version Compatibility

Family Time already has community mods. This guide uses Custom Models Loader as a specific example and separates author-documented compatibility from builds we have not tested.

1. What this mod changes

Custom Models Loader by fuwuvi replaces wolf character models and supports custom sounds. It has an F11 model menu and uses BepInEx 5. This is a community project, not an official game update.

2. Match the mod to the game build

The author lists 1.1.0 for Episode 2 DX12 Build37 and 1.1.1 for Episode 3 DX12 b102. The official Episode 3 post now lists b105. The reviewed mod notes do not confirm b105 or Mac compatibility.

Read the Files and Changelogs tabs together before downloading. Record the game archive name and the mod file version as a pair. If only the episode number matches, you have not yet matched the build or graphics variant.

3. Install the matching Windows package

  1. Keep an untouched game folder and record your save backup location before adding a mod. Close the game. Download the package whose author notes explicitly name your build.
  2. For the documented 1.1.1 package, extract its contents beside FamilyTime.exe. The author expects BepInEx, doorstop_config.ini and winhttp.dll at that level. Follow that package layout, not an older DLL-only tutorial.
  3. Launch the game, open the F11 menu and inspect BepInEx/LogOutput.log for the loader entry. BepInEx documentation explains that configuration and logs are generated during startup.
  4. Test the F11 menu first. The author places model bundles in BepInEx/plugins/models/wolf_mama or BepInEx/plugins/models/wolf_children. Add one compatible pack at a time and keep its original filename so you can identify each change.

4. If the mod does not load

First distinguish a loader problem from a model problem. No log or loader entry means the startup layer needs checking; a working F11 menu with an unchanged model is a different report. Include the game build, mod version, graphics variant and exact log error when asking the author for help.

Do not install a patch intended for b102 merely because a newer build shows a similar error. Ask whether the patch supports your exact build. The guide has not tested that patch or the current b105 game.

5. Return to an unmodified copy

Keep the modded folder for diagnosis and use your untouched copy for comparison. Do not delete random loader files from the working modded installation. A separate game folder is not a save backup: both copies may still use the same save location. Confirm that location before testing valuable progress.
